Die Cut Watercolor Puzzle Card with Stampin' Up! Rose Wonder Stamp Set

As promised, I'm here to share a closer look at some of the cards I created for this month's Blogging Friends Blog Hop.  If you missed the hop, you can check it out HERE.  This month we all shared projects that we created with our favorite stamp set.  It was so fun to see what everyone chose as their favorite!  There are so many sets that I love so it was hard to choose one to feature, but I have been reaching for Rose Wonder over and over again!   It lends itself beautifully to so many different techniques.
It really is a must have!

Today I wanted to show you how I created this card with heat embossing, watercoloring, die cutting and paper piecing.

Some of my favorite cards have been created from accidents.  This card was a series of mistakes that I think turned out quite lovely!

I started with a 4 x 5.25" piece of Watercolor Paper.  I stamped the large rose in Basic Black and again in Versamark ink and then I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I prefer this method over using black embossing powder because I get a cleaner look.  Then, I used my Aqua Painter to create loose washes of color over my embossed image.  I didn't love how it looked so I decided to die cut the rose... and it shifted while I cranked it through my big shot :(

In an effort to save my card, I started to play around with the pieces leftover from the negative space.  All of that piecing was time consuming, I'm not going to lie, but it was easy to do.  And, I love to craft while watching crafty YouTube videos so I enjoy doing little projects like this :)  I used a piece of glad press & seal to hold all of the die cut pieces together while I worked.  This really helped me to keep track of how all of the pieces should fit back together.

I think all of that paper piecing work was so worth it!  I love how it turned out and I really love how you can see a little bit of that black embossing here and there due to my "mistake."  It was a happy accident in the end :)

I am so happy that this set isn't on the Retiring List!  But, the Bundled & Save price is going away at the end of May so if you want to get the stamp set with the framelits you better act quickly to save 15% off!
